To get us ready for our rain week, we had a flannel board/song about the "Itsy Bitsy Spider," going up and down the water spout. Children's interest is high when the flannel board appears as the story seems to come alive. They had an opportunity to use it later during activity time.
After our story, we experimented with the play dough Thomas and his Mom made as each child shaped a birthday cake, complete with silver glitter and pipe cleaner candles for Hunter, as we celebrated his birthday. Somehow things evolved so we celebrated each child's birthday by enthusiastically singing "Happy Birthday To You." One of the children went around with pieces of the "cake," to be sampled; oh, to be three years old again...
